Jillian Welsh is a Dora nominated actor, comedian and storyteller. Her stories have been featured on NPR’s Unfictional, CBC’s Love Me, and RISK!. Jillian writes and performs sketch comedy with Mein Künt and is a member of the improv troupe The Pepperoni Pizza Cats. She is a graduate of AMDA’s musical theatre program in NYC and the Second City Conservatory in Toronto.
When did you first think of yourself as an artist?
My first and last shift at a Subway.
Who helped you develop your voice as an artist?
Shari Hollett, she taught me to always strive for the truth and be honest, even if it’s the hardest thing to do.
What’s something that’s inspired you recently?
The Toronto Fringe Festival!
What’s your favourite restaurant in the city to visit?
Indie Alehouse. They have an amazing IIPA called the "Cockpuncher", not only is it delicious, given the current political climate its a name I can really get behind
What do you want to see more of on Toronto stages?
Diversity that better reflects the beauty of this multicultural city we live in.
