Alice Lundy is a Toronto born and raised theatre artist who wears many hats as an actor, creator, director, and producer. She completed her BFA in Acting at the University of Windsor. Her journey at Windsor lead her to train with many world-renowned companies, such as the Stratford Festival, the New York based SITI Company, and the Moscow Art Theatre School in Moscow. Select acting credits include: MARRY ME MARRY ME MARRY ME... ( House + Body), Moral Deficit (Skipping Stones Theatre), Private Lives (Pure Carbon Theatre), Titus Andronicus (Seven Siblings Theatre), Fools Gold (Metaphysical Theatre), and Elektra (Toronto Fringe).
When did you first think of yourself as an artist?
Both of my parents are and my siblings Ivy, Ernesto, and Juliano are artists as well. I never really labelled myself as an artist because it was just part of my life and something I took for granted. It changed when I started meeting more people who didn't consider themselves artists. So there isn't a specific moment in my life, but more of an awareness of my passion over time.
Who helped you develop your voice as an artist?
Not to be repetitive, but my parents really helped me develop my voice. They are both visual artists and taught me a lot about art theory through painting, drawing, and sculpture. From an early age I remember them critiquing my 6-year-old drawings pointing out my use of line or colour. This has had a huge influence on developing my critical eye and finding inspiration in other art forms. I like to look at visual art, music, dance, performance art and figure out what they're playing with or what questions they're investigating and ask myself how I can translate that to theatre.
What’s something that’s inspired you this week?
My dog. Laughter with friends. Little breaks of sunshine. Practicing saying no.

What do you want to see more of on Toronto stages?
Paid artists. Discipline and rigour. Mixing and breaking of form.
