Bin Chicken

November 12 - 26, 2020

Toronto Dance Theatre

Choreographer(s): Alyssa Martin

Alyssa Martin is one of Toronto’s most emergent, young choreographers, recognized both for her comedic approach and her burgeoning skills as a director. As part of her first commission at Toronto Dance Theatre, Martin is turning the anticipated Bin Chicken into a film, bringing this clever and energetic work to our screens this Fall.

Grab some popcorn and join TDT for the premiere watch party from the comfort of your own home! The film will premiere on Thursday November 12 at 7:30 p.m. EST through TDT’s YouTube channel and it will remain online for two weeks. Closed captioning will be available. The link to the film will become available 24 hours prior to the premiere.

Inspired by Alyssa Martin’s visit to Sydney, Australia, when she became fascinated with a gaggle of striking white birds, known as “bin chickens” due to their voracious appetite for trash, Bin Chicken looks at the parallels between the lives of these much-maligned birds and the behaviour of the rest of us. Bouncing between dance, theatre, and song, this film will guarantee to show TDT’s dancers in a whole new light.
