What a Young Wife Ought to Know tells the story of Sophie, a young working-class wife with a lot to learn about love, sex, and birth control. An examination of the destructive shame enacted upon women in western society via the withholding of knowledge, Moscovitch’s play is also a sensual, sometimes funny, love story. Sophie's journey through womanhood is sometimes tragic, sometimes ridiculous, and always recognizable.

What a Young Wife Ought to Know is more than a compelling history lesson, it is an opportunity to contemplate the state of sexual health and freedom in our society today.
